    Check our guidelines for cleaning

    Charges

If you fail to leave the room as stated above, we will charge an amount that will be deducted from your deposit. The charge for cleaning is €30,- per estimated cleaning hour and €50,- by the hour to fill up any holes in the walls, taking out trash and other chores of that nature. These charges are not negotiable.

If you live in a shared room, you and your roommate are responsible for that room. Any additional costs will be divided between the two of you.

  2. 2

    Room inspection

If you leave on the last day of your tenancy agreement, you are asked to leave before 11 am the latest. Your caretaker, RA’s or assistance team will inspect rooms between 9:00 am and 12:00 pm. Make sure you are ready for check out at 09.00 am.

You can wait for the caretaker to come to your room and hand in the keys of your room after inspection before 11 AM. Otherwise, make pictures of the state of your room, close the door and make sure it’s locked when you leave. Leave your keys in the mailbox of your caretaker at the premises in an envelope marked with your address and room number. Inform your caretaker of this via e-mail. The caretaker will inspect your room after your departure.

You can follow the same instruction regarding your keys when you are leaving your room on another day than the regular check-out day at the end of a semester.

  3. 3

    De-register from City Council

De-registration means the city council (municipality) will remove your personal details from your Lieven de Key address. The municipality will automatically inform other government authorities about your departure. When you do not de-register, you may have problems at customs when you travel to the Netherlands in the (near) future.

    De-register in advance

You can de-register from 30 days prior to your departure. You can do this in person at city hall.

  4. 4

    Deposit refund

You will automatically receive the deposit on the creditcard you used for the first payment to book your room. You can expect the deposit within 90 days after the end date of your tenancy agreement.
